The American Heart Association sponsors this day to remind us all of the many benefits of walking. Countless studies have shown that taking walks in nature can improve overall well-being and health. Some of these benefits include improved cardiovascular health, reduced stress, improved mood and self-esteem, healthy weight, strengthened bones, and boosted creative thinking abilities.

So how about starting a new initiative to walk more? Motivating yourself is easy. Just wear your sneakers (or take them to work with you) and at some point in the day, make it a priority to take a 30-minute walk (in a park or near some trees if possible).

Here are some great was to make your walk even more enjoyable.

#1: Be conscious of your environment and think about the beauty surrounding you

#2: Wear comfortable clothes

#3: Make yourself uplifting playlists for your walk

#4: Ask a friend or co-worker to join
