For the fifth year in row and since the inauguration of the event,  Kiwi Energy is excited to once again sponsor the Brooklyn Greenway Half Marathon & 5K as an expression of their continued support for this amazing organization.

On Sunday, October 15, 2017, New Yorkers and visitors alike are invited to experience the Brooklyn Waterfront like never before at the only half marathon and 5K held exclusively on the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. The Brooklyn Greenway Half Marathon & 5K will guide runners through unique and memorable urban views which will include vistas of the midtown and lower Manhattan skylines; Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg Bridges; Brooklyn Bridge Park; and the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Participants of The Brooklyn Greenway Half Marathon & 5K will be supporting Brooklyn Greenway Initiative, a non-profit organization committed to the development and long term stewardship of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. This is one of many annual initiatives held by the organization that are driven to help increase awareness and generate funding for the continued development and restoration of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway (a 14-mile landscaped route for pedestrians, runners and cyclists which will, when complete, connect neighborhood parks and open spaces from Greenpoint to Bay Ridge).

“Organizations like Brooklyn Greenway Initiative are crucial to developing a more sustainable city. We’re extremely proud of our partnership with them as they constantly demonstrate how powerful and effective community-driven changes can be.” – Richard Booth, President of Retail Operations, Kiwi Energy.

About Brooklyn Greenway Initiative

For over a decade, Brooklyn Greenway Initiative (BGI) has acted as the catalyst for the development, establishment and long-term stewardship of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. Beginning in 2004, BGI and planning partner Regional Plan Association (RPA) hosted initial public workshops along the Brooklyn waterfront to develop a Conceptual Plan. BGI and RPA then worked directly with NYC DOT to host additional workshops and develop the Implementation Plan for the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway, which was released to the public on June 21, 2012. Today, the Greenway consists of 23 NYC DOT capital projects, spanning 14-miles from Greenpoint to Bay Ridge.
