International Day of Forests was established on the 21st of March to celebrate and raise awareness of the importance all of types of forests for the benefit of current and future generations.
As a company, we’re committed to demonstrating environmental stewardship/conservation, as well as reducing our customers’ (and our own) carbon footprint.
Our primary mechanism of contributing to environmentally focused organizations is through the Ecogold Environmental Fund. For every new customer acquired, a portion of the proceeds are donated to the Ecogold Environmental Fund, which contributes to programs that align with our values of sustainability, integrity, and environmental accountability. Organizations that we have partnered with include Earthwatch Institute, Earthspark International, and Green Guerillas.
Additionally, our electricity and natural gas plans are both environmentally focused options that are available to help our customers create a sustainable future. Kiwi Clean + Wind REC is our variable rate electricity plan that is matched 100% with Green-e Energy Certified Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) sourced from national wind, which we purchase to ensure that a customer’s energy usage is offset. Similarly, our natural gas plan, Zero Gas, is matched 100% with Green-e Climate Certified carbon offsets, which are purchased to ensure that the carbon emissions caused by a customer’s gas usage is offset from projects that encourage forestry.
